Outstanding Young Alumni Award
Ar. Chio is one of the most outstanding young alumni who won the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) Medal for M.Arch, Board of Architects (BOA) Prize and Gold Medal and Aedas Medal and Prize in Architectural Design Thesis in 2013/14. Since graduation, he has been actively involved in community service and mentorship, receiving recognition for his innovative community Project Embrace!@Yuhua in 2022 which emerged as the Grand Winner of the Singapore Design Award 2022 and was awarded the MND Municipal Services Award 2023. His architectural design work was also recently awarded the Singapore Good Design Award 2024 with Special Mention and Tatler Homes Design Awards 2024 under the Best Adaptive Re-use category. As a distinguished individual in the Built Environment industry who has shown dedication to fostering a robust Built Environment workforce, Ar. Chio was conferred the inaugural BCA Built Environment Career Advocate Award 2024. He is currently serving as the Chairperson of the SIA-Young Architects League (YAL) since 2022 and representing Singapore young architects as the Zone Representative for the Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA) – Committee on Young Architects (ACYA).Â
Ar. Chio’s contributions to student life began during his time as the 32nd President of The Architecture Society (TAS) and as the Co-Festival Director for SIA Archifest 2015 & 2016. He continues to support the department through career guidance, organising career fairs, donating to students’ activities since 2021 and thoughtful contribution like donating a foosball table in 2024 to encourage a balance between work and play. His work exemplifies maturity, creativity and community care, making him a role model for students. Â
Dr. Tsai is currently the Head of Innovation at AI Singapore (AISG), leading the AI talent development programme that has trained over 300 Singaporeans for AI careers. She is also a contributing member of the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI), representing Singapore globally and championing AI adoption. She has a distinguished background in Chemical Engineering, highlighted by her inclusion in the Asian Scientists Top 100 (2017) and winning the Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Young Chemical Engineer in Industry Award (2016).
Her career spans groundbreaking research and innovation, including leading projects at Procter & Gamble (P&G) and contributions to NASA's biofuels for aviation initiative. She has filed patents and published research in prestigious journals, showcasing her multidisciplinary expertise in nanotechnology, biochemistry, and environmental science.Â
Her leadership extends to spearheading global technical training at P&G, developing top technical talent at Google and leading as Co-Chair of the Human Capital Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Singapore), where she influences leadership development and talent management practices.Â
Dr. Tsai is currently a member of the Digital & Technology Committee with the Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP) and contributes to the Industrial Advisory Committee for the National University of Singapore (NUS) Engineering Science Programme (ESP).Â
She is deeply involved in building communities, coaching young professionals and students through organisations like the Young Women's Leadership Connection (YWLC) and as an alumnus of NUS College (NUSC). She is passionate about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) outreach and diversity initiatives, such as promoting women in science and engineering through various speaking engagements and volunteer activities.
Mr. Looi is a Principal Project Manager at Mott MacDonald, awarded the Young Consulting Engineer of the Year 2023 by the Association of Consulting Engineers Singapore. He has led major projects like the North-South Corridor and the Cross Island Line, excelling in design management, stakeholder engagement, and mentoring young engineers. His innovations have significantly reduced construction times and improved project efficiency.
With over eight years of experience, Mr. Looi has contributed to notable projects in Singapore and the UK. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer, Project Management Professional, and a mentor for the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). His community involvement includes supporting migrant workers and mentoring students at NUS. His dedication to both his profession and community exemplifies his role as a respected engineer and mentor.
